About Me
Dear Viewer,
My name is Manjari. I’m originally from Nepal, and I’m now grateful to call the equally picturesque West Vancouver, BC, Canada, my home.
My artistic journey began in childhood when I was introduced to pastels and watercolors in school. Over the years, my passion evolved, leading me to explore acrylics on canvas, as well as on walls and wood. My formal education took me to Sirjana College of Fine Arts in Kathmandu, Nepal, where I earned a Bachelor’s in Painting. I then had the privilege of interning at Gallery MCube and participating in numerous successful group exhibitions. This period was instrumental in shaping my artistic vision and skills while connecting me with the art community and culture in Nepal.
Since relocating to Vancouver in 2023, I’ve continued to immerse myself in the art scene. My journey here began with a summer job as a Face Painter at PNE, and volunteering at The Gallery George. I am currently serving as a Gallery & Events Assistant at the West Vancouver Community Arts Council. These experiences have enriched my artistic practice and deepened my appreciation for the local art community.

Manjari Dutta’s series ‘Silent Explosions’ that consist of four works, with its repeated patterns of rectangles, that looks like buildings, symbolically humans, is captivating. In the series, Dutta uses shades of gold sporadically to connect the paintings together and to show how lives are returning. The expression—silent explosion—used to describe the work also tries to indicate the release of the spirits from the bodies and shows how life continues despite the pandemic.
